What fashion means to me: A peek into my outfits

I was thinking the other day about fashion and style. Everyday we chose something to wear and show ourselves to the world. It’s a bizarre thing when you think about it. I wouldn’t consider myself a fashionista by any means, but I’m interested in fashion and style because I’m interested in people, art, and creating.

When I was about 3 years old, my mom gave up trying to dress me. She had ideas of what she wanted me to wear and I was not having it. I feel bad because looking back, I bet that is probably one of the things she was looking forward to; I was her only girl!

Unfortunately, I was (and am) extremely stubborn and wanted to wear layers upon layers, and wanted to mix every pattern I owned. It’s kind of horrifying looking back at childhood photos. My outfits totally clash, but I always had a smile on my face. I felt confident and comfortable when I wore what I wanted.

And that is what I think fashion is. I think it’s whatever you make it. It’s supposed to help you feel more like yourself.

I’ve never been a fan of following any sort of fashion rule. I love jewelry. I love patterns. I love color. And, I love wearing layers upon layers. I guess some things never change!

Here is a sneak peek into my style. These are my outfits from everyday this past week:
