Interview with Jill Marinelli: Personal Stylist

Olivia here writing from Providence! Today I have the pleasure of bringing to you, Personal Stylist: Jill Marinelli.

We at Winter Moon love fashion and style and believe that it plays a big role in our lives, sometimes bigger than we think. It surpasses the external and affects the way we feel and act. We love what Jill is doing; empowering women and helping them feel their best. She is great at what she does and is constantly being featured on TV, Radio, and in Magazines.

I had the pleasure of meeting Jill a few years ago. She has great style, fabulous hair, and personality to boot! She totally inspires me to be polished and confident. Without further adieu, Jill Marinelli!

how old are you?

I see that you started your own business, how did you go about that?

I was a personal shopper for Anthropologie and wanted to work with more women in different ways, so I struck out on my own!

what advice would you give to someone starting their own venture?

Do what you love.  Running a business is so much work, you have to love it!

when did you realize you wanted to be in the fashion world?

I worked in Manhattan for many years and noticed the way external appearance affects the way we’re treated by others.  I am fascinated with the psychology and power of personal style.  I don’t consider myself a fashionista – just a person who empowers women.

How would you describe your style?

I like wearing classic pieces and adding something bold or edgy for interest.  Lately, I’ve really enjoyed playing with different textures, but I focus mainly on dressing for my body type, which is what I specialize in helping others do.

what is your go-to outfit?

Jeans, boots, a fun top and jewelry!

what would you say is the best accessory?

Confidence!  How you get that is another story.  I do love a great handbag.

when do you feel your best?

When I am well-rested, organized, eating healthy, and have a great outfit on.

who and/or what inspires you?

People that are true to themselves and their passions inspire me!

what is one thing you want the world to know about you?

I care most about how women FEEL, even though my job is to make them look good.

What is one thing you can’t leave your house without?

my iphone

what is your favorite hair tool?

T3 travel straightener for my crazy cowlicky bangs

what makeup brand or product do you swear by?

Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer

where was the last place you traveled to? how was it?

I was just in San Francisco! It’s one of my favorite cities! So much diversity, style, and things to do. I also love being by the water.

Do you have a favorite travel destination?

Anywhere warm and beachy – Hawaii is pretty awesome!

Where are you from originally?

I grew up in Narragansett, RI

What brought you to Providence?

I was living in NYC, had a baby, and wanted to be closer to family!

How would you describe Providence to someone who has never been?

A small city with a lot of heart, great food, and a thriving city!

Jill’s personal Mantra:

“When your personal style is in alignment with who you are and where you’re headed, you can shift your focus to other important aspects of your life.”

Jill offers a variety of services. She has a closet-cleanup where you will both go through your closet and figure out what things still fit (the way they should), pick out things to donate, help style new outfits, and help give you a new perspective on the clothes you already own. (This sounds heavenly, Jill!)

Jill also has personal shopping services as well as workshops she can have for you, your friends, or your business!

Here is her fabulous website with more info and her contact:

You are quite an asset here in Providence, Jill!
